The Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) is an organization at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. CVD has some of the top experts in the field of global health and vaccinology, and they are dedicated to improving global health by conducting innovative, world-leading research in Baltimore and around the world. Their key mission is to harness the power of vaccines to prevent disease and save lives in the most vulnerable populations.
As a Social Media and Marketing intern at CVD, I did many different jobs. One of the larger projects I created while there was to set up, manage and create content for their Pinterest. I created numerous illustrations for topics including COVID-19 and global health, while staying within the organizations brand colors and guidelines.

What is the difference between the flu and COVID-19? How do the symptoms, preventative measures and actions to take when sick differ between the two? Flu Prevention: 1. Get the flu vaccine! 2. Stay home when sick 3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth 4. Wash hands or use hand sanitizer. COVID-19 Prevention: 1. Wear a mask when in public. 2. Stay home when sick 3. Stay 6 feet apart. 4. Wash hands or use hand sanitizer. Flu Symptoms: 1. Symptoms appear suddenly. 2. Fever or Chills. 3. Cough 4. Sore throat. 5. Headache 6. Fatigue/ weakness 7. aching muscles. 8. Congestion or runny nose. COVID-19 Symptoms: 1. Symptoms appear over time. 2. Fever or chills. 3. Cough. 4. New loss of taste or smell. 5. Shortness of Breath. 6. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. 7. Aching muscles. 8. Congestion or runny nose. For both: if you are sick- call a healthcare provider if you are concerned or have a fever, bad cough, or difficulty breathing. Symptoms of both can be similar and you should get tested for COVID-19. Stay home and rest, separating yourself from others as much as possible. Cover coughs and sneezes. Wash your hands often.
