Barrier Island Bagels

The Barrier Island Bagels logo in the color navy blue. It features the logo mark on the left and text on the right in a centered serif typeface. The logo mark is designed to be a bagel with a bite out of it. The bite out of the bagel creates the shape of the Barrier Islands in North Carolina.
Barrier Island Bagels is a bagel shop located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina (OBX). The Outer Banks is also known as the Barrier Islands.

The client came to me with a concept for the logo. I created her concept as well as my own concept and mocked each logo up in various scenarios that the logo would be used in. After presenting the concepts to the client, she thought my design was the stronger of the two. I packaged the logo variations for the client, and created a brand book for her to have some guidelines to go by.
Below is the presentation I gave for my logo design.

My logo design for Barrier Island Bagels
The logo mark only. It is a bagel where the Barrier Islands create the bite out. At a distance it just looks like a bagel with a bite taken out. Up close, the Barrier Islands are what create the bite out of the logo.
A vertical option of the logo where the logo mark (the bagel) sits on top of the company name. The text is centered just as it is with the horizontal logo.

THE BRAND GUIDE
I created a basic brand guide for the clients in Adobe InDesign. It covers the different BIB logo variations and when to use them. It also covers some basic Do's and Do Not's. In one of our remote meetings we talked about the purpose of following simple rules like this in order to create a cohesive brand. It also includes details about the typeface seen in the logo and what to pair it with. The final page before the thank you goes over the different file types (like png, ai, jpeg) and when to use them.
